Yares Art is pleased to present a selection of seminal paintings by Milton Avery (1885-1965), Helen Frankenthaler (1928–2011), Adolph Gottlieb (1903–1974), Hans Hofmann (1880-1966), Morris Louis (1912–1962), Robert Motherwell (1915–1991), Kenneth Noland (1924–2010), Jules Olitski (1922–2007), Larry Poons (b. 1937), and Frank Stella (1936–2024)—all leading members of the Abstract Expressionist and Color Field painting movements.
Highlights at Art Basel Miami Beach will include Helen Frankenthaler’s large-scale 1959 masterpiece, Acres, a luminous, dynamic composition of brilliant, expressive colors. Other masterpieces—from that same decade—are Morris Louis’ Surge (1958), one of the greatest “Veils” from the artist’s oeuvre, and Hans Hofmann’s celebrated major 1961 painting, Moonshine Sonata.
The gallery is internationally known for its focus on American Color Field Painting from the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s, as well as for representing some of the most significant artists and estates from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. These include the estates of Arman, Thomas Downing, Friedel Dzubas, and Jules Olitski, as well as the exclusive representation of Larry Poons. Yares Art was founded in 1964 by Riva Yares in Scottsdale, Arizona. Over the decades, the gallery has expanded its footprint and exhibition venues from Santa Fe, New Mexico, to New York City, and most recently to Beverly Hills, California.
